Need: Extensive existing raised gardens lacked healthy soil and water-wise irrigation options.
Solution: Designed and built modular water biofilteration systems to interface with warehouse rainwater cisterns and intensive vegetable production beds. These biofilters filter unhealthy pollutants as well as oxygenate and increase beneficial bacteria in water. The biofilters also served as intermediate growing beds for medicinal, native, wetland plants.
Trained teams of military veterans and at-risk youth in building and maintaining large thermophilic composting systems culled from warehouse fruit waste and regenerative vermiculture systems at a downtown site as well as at the Veterans’ hospital.
